Biography 
Richard Jowers was born in the impoverished downtown area of Newport News, Va.  Jowers attended 4 high schools due to being homeless on and off. He still managed to be all-conference in basketball and football from his sophomore year on in both sports.  He graduated from Elizabeth City State University and lettered on the football team.  He is a member of Omega Psi Phi.  Jowers holds a doctorate degree from the University of Alabama.
Richard Jowers as an Assistant Coach and recruiting coordinator in 2022-2023 at the University of Indianapolis women's basketball program, had tremendous success. He directly mentored Sadie Hill who earned second-team All-GLVC honors and she averaged a career high in points. The UIndy women's basketball team (18-11) earned its first GLVC Championship Tournament victory in six years.
Jowers spent the 2021-2022  seasons at Rust College (2015-16, 2016-17) helping to guide the team to the Round of 32 in the NAIA national championships while winning the conference and conference tournament. During the season the team garnered awards such as Head Coach Eric Jackson Jr. being named Coach of the Year, Shay Johnson and Katie Blackmon were selected to the All-GCAC First Team, Jasmine Coleman won Defensive Player of the Year while making the All-Defensive Team, as well as Shay Johnson being selected to the second-team All-American. Rust also led the NAIA in rebound margin at 14.3 and has limited opponents to 49.4 points per game, which ranked first in the country.
At Stillman College during the 2019-2021 seasons, Jowers served as an assistant coach. His duties include managing all social media, photography, and analytics. He also helped with practice, recruiting, workouts, and conditioning. During his time at Stillman, the team had several team members hold All-SSAC and All-Academic accolades.
Jowers during the 2018-2019 season served as a volunteer graduate assistant at the University of Alabama. During this time, he oversaw analytics, practice stats, and tracking passing.
During 2017-2018, Jowers served as the head coach at Huguenot high school in Richmond Virginia. In a conference with 7 state championships in the last 4 years.  Where without a home gym due to faulty school constructions the team managed to put together multiple wins against 6A opponents as a 4A team.  Also, as the 10th seed in the playoffs, the falcons managed to defeat a higher seed and advance the playoffs. In May 2017, Jowers was selected and completed the Marine Corps Coaches Leadership Workshop at Marine Base Quantico in Quantico, Va.
At Mount Zion Christian Academy during the 2016-2017 season. Jowers served as the Head coach in charge of all basketball operations. Jowers helped turn a 1-17 team into a 25-6 team. The Lady Warriors went undefeated in the conference tournament and won the CAASC State championship. The team also went on to field 3 all-state players and 4 all-conference players. The Warriors also won the Bull City Classic. The team fielded wins against out-of-state opponents and against the top division schools in the NCHSAA. Jowers received coach of the year in the conference and in the state.
At Carrboro High school during the 2015-2016 season. Jowers served as the associate head coach and assisted in creating and implementing different offensive and defensive system strategies. He also managed all video and recording processes. During his time at CHS, he helped the team double team wins from the previous season and attend the State Playoffs. Jowers helped the team achieve 3 all-conference players and accomplished the feat of having a player of the week of all North Carolina.
During the 2014– 2015 seasons, Jowers served as an assistant coach at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High school. As a Varsity assistant, Jowers was responsible for scouting, advanced analytics, statistics, player development, injury prevention, and strength and conditioning. He helped lead the team to the state championship while having 2 all-state all-district, McDonald All-American, and State-East-west, North-South recipients. Ten players on this team all attended college and played basketball.
At Hillside High School Jowers served as the assistant coach for both boys’ and girls’ teams. During the 2013-2014 season, he assisted with practices and was in charge of all video, analytics, and statistics. Jowers helped student-athletes achieve All-conference All-Academics. Both teams made the playoffs and both teams fielded college athletes. The Boys’ team made it to the second round and the girls’ team made it to the Regional Finals. Nine players played collegiate sports.
As the Head coach at Research Triangle High school a first-year school during the 2012-2013 season.  Mr. Jowers coached both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. Which included finding players within the school, all scheduling, transportation, etc.  Jowers also helped the team field their first win playing at the Varsity level as 9th graders.
Jowers has been a part of the coaching staff at the grassroots level with the Adidas Carolina All-stars Club Basketball Team and the Carolina Flames Nike EYBL Basketball team. While coaching at the grassroots level he coached over 50 College basketball players who went on to play at all collegiate levels. Jowers is a USA Basketball certified coach. He has worked at serval basketball camps including ECU men and women and Alabama women. He has attended numerous coaching clinics including Head Coaching Training Center. KTS, Moving Up, Nike, USA, Heather Macy, Dawn Staley, NCHSAA, USAB, etc.
During prior seasons Jowers coached basketball at Northeastern High school and Pasquotank Elementary School. Jowers has a strong football background playing and coaching at the High school and college levels. Including stints at Division II Elizabeth City as the volunteer video coordinator (2010-2012) helping the team make it to the CIAA championship.  Jowers also had stops at Northeastern high school making it to the 2A state championship, Hillside High 3rd round of the playoffs, Roger Herr's winning the Durham County championship, and Githens winning the regular-season championship.
