Richard Jowers received his doctoral degree in the School of Education at The University of Alabama. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi. Richard attended Elizabeth City State University with a major in Health and Physical Education K-12 with a minor in coaching as well as lettering on the Football team. He received his master’s at East Carolina University in Physical Education Pedagogy, along with National Board Certification. Richard’s Ph.D. focus is Human Performance, Sport Pedagogy with a foundation in Race and Gender. His research thus far includes involved HBCUs, Autobiographical memories, Occupational socialization, physical activity in teenage black female students, technology in Physical Education, and coaching.  Richard also has eight years of teaching in the Public School system in North Carolina and Virginia.
